UBC Day 3 - Canadian Summer

Long summer days, so hot and hazy
Reading a book and feeling lazy,
Boating, swimming, taking a hike
Riding a country road on your bike,

Strawberries, watermelon, ice cream, too
Barbecued hamburgers, a cold case of Blue,
Sitting around a campfire getting smokey
Singing songs that are really hokey,

Canadian summer, short and sweet
Savour it like a tasty treat,
Soon Old ManWinter will reappear
Enjoy our summer while it’s here!

  2. Short and sweet - just like our summers in upstate New York! We've had a hot week but now it is cooling down. Time to savor the best of summer! Alana

    1. I imagine your summers are pretty similar to ours then. My inlaws live on the St. Lawrence across from upstate New York. Fun to look across and know it's the States over there.

  3. Give me winter any day! We are in the middle of a heat wave and I am not a happy camper. However, I did enjoy your poem and the sweet memories of summers gone by :)

    1. I don't care for the heat either, Carol, but I prefer it to the bitter cold and isolation of winter.

    2. One of the main reasons we live on the West Coast - I don't even own a winter jacket.
